Updated version of SAR system now available
6/12/2011
We have now released an software update for our SAR
system. The changes incorporate feedback from our initial users,
and also other experienced SAR pilots.
The main changes are:
- ability to import background polygons of the target
search area
- ability for the pilot to generate "A-B" lines. Also known
by crop dusters as "back to back", it simplifies the ability for
the pilot to generate his own guidance direction once on site, to
suit the waves and sun direction.
We recently conducted a training session for the
Auckland Rescue Helicopter team at their base in Mechanics Bay,
Auckland. The response was very positive, with many
suggestions for minor changes and improvements.

Our next release, scheduled for late January, will
incorporate some significant changes. The main change will be the
ability for rescue headquarters to generate a search template and
"email" it direct to an aircraft or boat.
We think it will make it a great deal easier for them to transfer
clear search instructions to the pilot or boat operator. It
will also allow pilots to send maps showing details of their sweep
coverage, and any POI's back by wireless to HQ, allowing for better
planning and debrief.
