Issue/Background
The steep hills south of Waimate in NZ's South Canterbury region
are not regarded as traditional dairying country. But by
using the innovative K-Line system to water the hills, Matt had a
higly productive dairy unit.
The problem was the steep to rolling country made achieving even
shifts of the K-Lines almost impossible. The result was excess
runoff and ponding, leading to loss of pasture and waste of a
valueable water resource.
Solution
Matt put a TM465 on the quad bike used for shifting the
irrigation, and the result was a dramatic reduction in water
runoff. Like most who have installed the TracMap system, Matt found
he was growing more grass and using less water in the process.
It also made it a lot easier for staff - a lot let stressful
according to Matt
Outcome
Matt has since moved on from that property, but like anyone who
has used the system, remains a strong advocate for TracMap as being
the only way to go when it comes to getting the most from
irrigation water.
