Issue/Background
John Eaton is an example of agricultural contractors
everywhere. Works hard during the season, and prides himself
on doing the best job possible.
So when Colin Brown approached him in the early days of TracMap
as asked for help to design and build a system that allowed him the
make a better job driving the steep hills that make up most of his
work, and also provide automatic mapping system so he show his
customers he was doing a quality job, he jumped at the chance.
Solution
John worked through many iterations of the early prototypes, but
now has a system that suits him admirably.
One of the features John insisted be built in into the system
was the ability to know the area of a field or block, and most
importantly, how much was remaining when part way through. "Its not
bad to figure out on flat square paddocks", said John, "but on
these hills it is real tough to judge areas and quantities. The
TracMap system solves that."
Go out, drive the paddocks, come back later and finish where you
left off, and at the finish, give you customer a map. Simple.
Outcome
Like a lot of TracMap customers, John started with one unit, and
had quickly exanded to put across his whole fleet.
